December 2009

I hope to see many of you at our Annual General Meeting on Monday 18th January  2010 at 8pm at A NEW VENUE, The Crown Inn , Wychbold , Nr Droitwich, Worcester WR9 7 PF. I enclose the Agenda. From 7pm we can choose our meal from a varied menu at different prices, and drinks will be available from the bar at the usual prices.. Those not wanting a meal could come at 8pm. for the AGM. Please bring a prize along for the Raffle, which will be in aid of the British Young Drivers fund for their forthcoming International competition in Hungary next August.

We have had a busy year , we held subsidised training sessions with Sarah Wildy through the summer and also our junior drivers camp in August which we opened to adults as well as we could not find many juniors. All participants successfully took various BDS tests. Several of our young drivers are training with the Welsh and English teams for the Junior World Trophy which will be held in Hungary in August 2010. I did not organise a fun day for cones practice in the spring, the local clubs all had so much arranged, people were too busy! We could organise a young (and older) drivers camp this year if there is enough interest, the dates will have to be announced later in order to fit in with my commitments to the young drivers. Please contact me if you would be interested to take part.

Nearly every week throughout the season John Redfern and Ivan Meredith organised splendid drives of about 20 miles, only suitable for large fit equines and much enjoyed by those taking part. David Smith also organised several drives, I am pleased to say that David has kindly agreed to be an AAC for our area this year in spite of all his many commitments. David will be organising rally drives this year. We must sadly say goodbye to our treasurer Sandy Blakeway-Smith, she has been a wonderful help and support to me; as our treasurer and so please join me in thanking her for all her time and effort.

An excellent program of training and events was organised by the Wolverley DDC throughout the year and was much enjoyed by all the club members.
We do not run a BDS Worcs. Area show , as some of our members are very involved with the Three Counties Show. I would like to thank Belinda James and members of the Wolverley Club for all their efforts , I sadly could not be there this year but I heard that it was a great success.

Please come to your AGM and bring along your suggestions and ideas of what you would like your committee to organise. I want to bring the AGM forward so that eventually we hold it in the autumn. This year and next year will therefore be short years.

I have now completed several years as your Area Commissioner and therefore would like to offer my resignation and ask if anyone else would like to take on the responsibility. I could manage one more year but feel I should make way for someone younger! I look forward to seeing you at the Annual General Meeting on 18th JANUARY. Please return the slip attached to the AGM notice so that I can tell the restaurant how many there will be for supper.

May I wish you all a very happy Christmas and safe and enjoyable driving in the New Year.

Paddy Marris
